Indianapolis PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program
About Our Critical Care Program
The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program at Franciscan Health Indianapolis is located in the southeastern corner of Marion County, only a few miles from downtown Indianapolis. Franciscan Health Indianapolis is a 485 bed community, teaching hospital located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of services, including heart and vascular care, oncology, orthopedics, surgical, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, neonatal care and neurology. Franciscan Health Indianapolis is a level 3 trauma center, primary stroke center with thrombectomy capabilities, and heart failure and chest pain accredited. Franciscan Health Indianapolis is the site of one of only two bone marrow transplant centers in Indiana.
PGY2 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available.
The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program is designed to develop critical care pharmacists through diverse clinical experiences. Residents rotate through four distinct ICU environments, including Adult Critical Care, Neurocritical Care, Cardiac Critical Care, and Cardiovascular Surgical Critical Care, as well as the Emergency Department, to provide exposure to a wide range of critically ill patient populations and advanced therapies. Residents can customize their training through elective rotation experiences that align with their individual clinical interests. The resident will have the opportunity to assist in precepting rotation students and PGY1 residents.
